About Moran’s Custom Leather & Boot Repair

Moran’s Custom Leather & Boot Shop is the creation of Steve Moran, a lifelong cowboy whose journey and craftsmanship are woven into every piece he makes. Hailing from western Montana, Steve began learning leatherwork at a young age—out of necessity. Without the means to purchase the gear he needed, he taught himself to craft it, refining his skills over decades while cowboying across the western United States.

After a serious head injury effectively ended his cowboying days, leatherwork became both his therapy and his new purpose. It was through the craft that Steve regained his strength and found a path forward. His vision of opening a small saddle shop led him to Miles City, where a visit for a wedding convinced him this was the place to plant roots.

In 2016, he opened his first shop inside Vintage and Rustics with a single workbench and a small set of tools. Within just eight months, growing demand allowed him to move into 508 Main Street, the historic location once home to the world-renowned saddle maker Furstnow’s. Since then, Moran’s Custom Leather & Boot Shop has grown steadily each year, fueled by Steve’s mission: to build quality into every stitch.
