About Yellowstone Feed Company
Yellowstone Feed Company is a family-run operation located 15 miles south of Miles City, Montana, proudly run by Dustin Muggli, his brother Eric, and uncle Len. The land was first purchased in 1946 by Dustin’s grandfather, and the family has been raising alfalfa here for generations. In 1996, they expanded into producing feed pellets, combining their decades of agricultural experience with a commitment to quality.
Every step of the process — from planting and irrigation to fertilizing and harvesting — is carefully managed to ensure top-quality feed for Montana’s livestock. Dustin and his family see their customers not just as clients, but as an essential part of Montana’s cattleman heritage, and they take pride in supporting their success.
In November 2022, a fire destroyed much of their tools and equipment, temporarily halting production. After a long and challenging recovery, Yellowstone Feed Company is back, running at full steam, and continuing their dedication to quality, reliability, and the Montana ranching tradition.
Products & Services
At Yellowstone Feed Company, quality starts in the field. Their alfalfa, grown on their own farm, forms the foundation for their premium feed pellets. The pellets are 1¾ inch in diameter and suitable for cattle, horses, or sheep, offering nutritious, reliable feed for Montana livestock operations.
They offer two specially formulated blends:
- Cattle: A long-fiber pellet with 30% peas and 70% alfalfa, designed to provide optimal nutrition for cattle.
- Horses & Sheep: An alfalfa & oat blend (10% oats), certified noxious weed seed free and identifiable by the orange tag, perfect for equine and small ruminant feeding.
50 lb. bags of horse feed is available locally at Cowtown Ag Supply in Miles City, MT, or in bulk. Bulk orders can be picked up at the plant or delivered — call to confirm the service area. 50 lb. bags of Horse pellets are also available at 44 Murdoch’s locations in 6 states.
